Specifications
How are self drilling screws measured?
They are measured from the top of the head to the tip. Hex and hex washer head screws and bolts, although flat on the top and the bottom, are measured from the bottom of the head. From that point to the tip is the length of the screw. Self drilling screws are measured all the way to the end of the drill point tip.
A self-drilling screw is a type of screw that has similar design features with a drill bit with a tip that enables it to drill its own hole. As the name implies, self-drilling screws do not require a pilot hole in order to perform as a fastener.
What does a self-drilling screw do?
Typically made from stainless steel, self-drilling screws are characterised by their drill-shaped point. This point enables the screws to drill into materials without the need for pre-drilled pilot holes, resulting in a more efficient fastening process.
Application
What are drilling screw used for?
Self-drilling screws can be used for a wide variety of applications which involve fastening two different types of materials together. They are commonly used to fasten metal to wood, or even metal to metal.
